Bar code reader requirements

There are millions of these Human Interface Devices on the market and MOST will work with our software just fine.

They can be the type of scanner that fits in a stand and reads the code all at once.

The basic requirements are, these also serve as a guide to setting up the device when you receive it. Normally there is a setup card or book to guide you thru the setup.

  • Ability to read an interleaved 2 of 5 bar code with a check digit.
  • Ability to set the length of the interleaved 2 of 5 bar code to 10.
  • Ability to set the "DO NOT TRANSMIT" the check digit.
  • Ability to set the termination character to nothing.

Use a program like Notepad or Word to test the barcode reader output before testing in our program where as not to create any undesired receipts.

Basically the scan should read the code and type the characters located under the bar code and NOT proceed to the next line.
